Hyundai Heavy Industries is the world\'s largest shipbuilder, a major builder of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, one of the fastest growing companies in construction equipment.
HHI produces tankers, bulk carriers, containerships, gas and chemical carriers. Ships built by Hyundai include the iron ore carrier Berge Stahl, which at 364,768 dead weight tons is one of the world\'s largest bulk haulers. The company makes ship engines, provides offshore oil and gas drilling platforms, and undersea pipelines.
Furthermore, the company produces a wide array of powerplant products, construction equipment, and industrial robots. The construction equipment is sold all over the world and include mini-excavators, crawler excavators, wheeled excavators, wheel loaders, skid steer loaders and forklift trucks (diesel, lpg and battery powered). It is the market leader in China for excavators.
The company was founded by Chung Ju-yung on March 23, 1972.
It was spun off from the Hyundai Group in February 2002.
